How many days until Christmas?

Count the days from today to December 25. From September 26, 2026 it is 90 days — the calculator counts from today the moment you open it, and ticks down the hours, minutes and seconds too.

How is the countdown counted?

Whole calendar days from today to the event date, plus the hours, minutes and seconds to the event time on your device's clock. If you set a time, the count reaches zero at that moment; without one, at midnight when the day begins.

When is Thanksgiving this year?

Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November: November 26 in 2026 and November 25 in 2027. Pick it from the list and the calculator finds the next one.

How many weeks until my event?

Divide the days by 7. 90 days is 12 weeks and 6 days. The result also shows the business days, Monday to Friday, if you are counting working days to a deadline.

Does it work in my time zone?

Yes — it uses the time zone and clock of your device, so "midnight" is your midnight. For an event in another time zone, convert its time first with the time zone converter.

Why can a countdown in hours differ from days times 24?

Because a calendar day is not always 24 hours. In the US, clocks go back on the first Sunday of November and forward on the second Sunday of March, so the day of the change has 25 or 23 hours. In 2026 the clocks go back on Sunday, November 1, 2026; a countdown from the evening before to the evening after crosses a 25-hour day. The calculator uses your device’s clock, so it includes that hour automatically.

Does the countdown include the event day itself?

The count is the number of days from today to the event date, so today is not counted and the event day is the last day counted. On the day of the event the count reaches zero at the time you set, or at the start of the day if you did not set one.

How the count is computed

The date part is the difference between the two calendar dates, counted in whole days. The time part is the difference between now and the event’s clock time on your device, shown as hours, minutes and seconds, and it refreshes every second while the page is open. Weeks are the days divided by 7, with the remainder in days, and business days are the Monday-to-Friday days in the range, optionally leaving out the federal holidays.

Worked example: from November 2 to Christmas

From Monday, November 2, 2026 to Friday, December 25, 2026 is 53 days, or 7 weeks and 4 days. Of those days, 39 are weekdays; leaving out the three federal holidays in the range (Veterans Day on November 11, Thanksgiving on November 26 and Christmas Day) leaves 36 working days. If you are counting to a deadline that needs a working day, use the lower figure.

Common mistakes

Counting both the first and the last day gives one more than the calculator’s answer; that is right for the length of an event but not for “days left”. Forgetting the time zone is the other: an event at midnight in another city is at a different hour on your clock. A countdown that spans a clock change should be in hours or minutes only if you want the actual elapsed time, and the next US spring change is on Sunday, March 14, 2027. Finally, holidays differ by employer and country; the business-day count uses the US federal list only.
